WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1940 Single Decal Helmet-This handsome lid has a blue grey combat finish that remains 85% intact overall. The Luftwaffe decal on the left side checks in at 80%. Inside, the size stamped 57 leather liner has some minor wear and discoloration but remains quite soft and supple. There is a zinc liner band and a drawstring. The side of the interior is stamped ET 64 indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke in the size of 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 298. This would place the time of manufacture in late 1940. The zinc linerband is dated 1941. If you look carefully, you can see a neatly masked off area in the form of an upside down triangle. This was done when this helmet was given a fresh paint job and they masked off the decal. This is a very special characteristic of this helmet making it a reissued example. There is a brown leather chinstrap as well. It is quite worn and has shrunk a bit but it is original. A near excellent example!
