Third Reich NSDAP Political Gorget-Aside from the Field Police gorget, which was used with all services, I would say this is the most popular collector gorget!  There are two reasons for that.  One is the beauty, and the other is the price! This was one of the last gorgets to be officially sanctioned.  This happened on April 25, 1939 and was undoubtedly hastened by the scheduled National Party Day, which was slated for Nuremberg that September. As we all know, that didn’t happen because of the “aggressive actions of the Polish” followed by the invasion of Poland.  The concave (this one is flattened) shaped bronzed breastplate is in good overall condition, with some minor discoloration and wear to the finish only.  The massive Political eagle retains about half of its antique burnishing and is slightly loose on the plate. The edge of the breastplate is trimmed in ornate oak leaves.  The reverse is covered with olive drab badge cloth, which has some wear and discoloration but is mostly intact. The two tabs for the chain are marked “RZM M 5/8” indicating this was produced by F.W. Assmann of Lüdenscheid. The chain is unfortunately missing. A sound example overall!
