Japanese WWII NCO Samurai Sword-This sword measures approx. 37 ½ inches (95.25cm) in length and is a classic machine-made example. The steel handle is painted to simulate the cloth wrap and the shark skin covering on the handle. There are chrysanthemums on both sides of the handle. There is a maker’s mark at the base of the handle but I am unable to identify which arsenal made this sword. It might be a fun springtime research project for you. This sword has a solid brass cross guard and tsuba. The locking mechanism functions perfectly. This is a fully match example, which is exciting to find. The numbers 79547 can be found on the blade and also on the throat of the scabbard along with a small proof mark. The original olive-green paint on the steel scabbard is a solid 75%. The scabbard has some finish loss but is not dented at all. The blade has nice polish with no nicks and is overall very good.
