German WWII Kriegsmarine 2nd Model Dagger by Paul Weyersberg-This is a scarce maker for naval blades. This dagger has a beautiful, double engraved blade that displays an anchor motif. There are shiny solid brass fittings throughout. The pommel is a thing of beauty with great details to the eagle and subdued swastika within the wreath. There is also great detail to the brass hilt. The off-white celluloid handle is in good condition only, as it shows some age crazing and slight cracking. None of the celluloid is missing, it is just slightly cracked. The brass grip wire is in place as is the red felt buffer under the crossguard. The lightning bolt scabbard is in very good condition. Of course, you can see the usual door dent but this is minor and almost expected on these Kriegsmarine daggers. The locking mechanism holds the blade tightly in place and functions perfectly. The engraved blade is also in very good condition, showing the usual in and out marks only. You can see the prominent Weyersberg logo under the crossguard. This comes with a properly tied silver bullion knot. A desirable offering!
