German WWII Cased 1937 Commemorative Porcelain Plaque-This is a white porcelain plaque produced by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin. (KPM) to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Berlin. The plaque features a relief of the Berlin coat of arms, a standing bear, topped by a mural crown. The text on the crown reads 1237-1937. The plaque measures approx. 5 inches (12.7cm) tall by 2 ½ inches (6.35cm) wide. The reverse is inscribed with “Als Dank Und Zur Erinnerung Die Reichshauptstadt 1937” which translates to “As thanks and as a reminder- the capital of the Reich 1937.” The plaque is cased in its original box of issue. It is white cardboard trimmed in orange. The inside flocking is also orange. The inside is recessed to hold the plaque firmly in place. The inside of the lid is marked for KPM who is one of Germany’s most prestigious porcelain factories. This is a rare piece in very good condition.
