German Petrol/Oil Cans MG13 Gunners Can-This set is beautiful. The field grey finish on this steel can is mostly intact. The container itself measures 7 inches (17.78 cm) tall, 14 inches (35.56 cm) long and 7 inches (17.78 cm) wide. It is stamped "BSW" and 1938. There are 4 smaller cans inside, two marked for petrol and 2 marked for oil. These each measure 3 inches ((8.5 cm) tall, 4 ½ inches (11.43cm) long and 3 inches (8.5 cm) wide. We are now aware that these were reissued to other countries including Portugal. These were often used in the early war years with the MG34. This set contains four Portuguese contract oil cans. The Germans initially sold MG13s to Portugal with all the needed extras including MG13 oil cans (Petroleumkasten) for use in the gunners can prior to the outbreak of hostilities. These initial oil cans were unpainted. This set was part of a later 1,000 MG34 order that was exported in 1943 – 1944. These later cans were made by a different maker than the original pre-war MG13 cans . Extra shipping will apply as this weighs 10 pounds (4.5kg).
