German WWII Assistant Stretcher Bearer Armband-The Auxiliary Stretcher Bearer’s armband was worn by personnel assisting military Medical and/or Red Cross personnel in the service of removing the wounded from the field. It is made of a woven white rayon with a black embroidered Gothic script that reads “Hilfs Krankenträger” (Auxiliary Stretcher Bearer). The script is encompassed by a black embroidered, rectangular border. Both the top and bottom edges of the armband have a dual-ply, machine stitched, hem and the reverse have a central, machine stitched, vertical seam. The armband is in very good condition with just a few spots of dark red discoloration.
