German WWII 98K Combat Bayonet by Gebr. Heller-This is a fine example of a combat bayonet. The finish on the steel hilt has that coating that gives this a brownish black color. The brown slotted bakelite grips are in very good condition and show only the usual wear. This has the typical series of waffenamts. The scabbard with matching serial number of 9464/b has lost all of its original finish and is steel looking. The scabbard does remain dent free. The blade is nicely marked for the maker, Gebr. Heller and dated 37 on the side. This blade has a red plumbed look to it. There are a few scuffs, and it has been slightly sharpened. It does still have cosmoline on it in spots. It is complete with a black leather frog and retaining strap which is unmarked and shows heavy wear. A strong sound candidate.
