Japanese WWII Dispatch/Map Case- This is the hard-shell brown leather version with hand stitched 5-pointed star on front flap. The fittings are made of brass. This measures 12 inches long by approx. 8 inches wide. The front has a spot for pencils. There is also a flap on the reverse with a second pocket which is unusual. The leather is in good condition and is very nicely toned. It could use some conditioning. There were kanji markings under the lid, but these have been painted over with a black ink or paint. There is a nice brown leather shoulder strap with adjustable buckle. This is a good-looking piece.
