WWII German Reichsarbeitsdienst NCO Tunic and Breeches-This set is for an NCO with the rank of obertruppführer, or senior troop leader, roughly equivalent to a staff sergeant. Starting with the tunic, which is produced in brown wool. It is very clean, with minor wear overall. There are a few small repairs, the worst of which is seen on the front just below the lowest button. Nothing major for sure! This has a six button closure and all buttons are silver finished pebbled metal. There are pleated breast pockets with straight flaps. The lower pockets are internal with angled flaps. There is a built in hook above the left lower pocket, perhaps for a strap or an edged weapon? The collar is dark brown badge cloth. The collar tabs are machine woven in black with white columns. The sew in shoulder boards are the same color as the tunic with NCO tresse around the perimeter. There is a single pip on each. There are two event tinnies on the left pocket and a small WWI ribbon bar above. There is an NCO style, silver metallic thread RAD sleeve shield. This has red numerals that read 285/8. This is for the 285th Gruppe, 8th Abteilung (this would be the 28th Gau which is Gau Franken). The interior is fully lined in bronze rayon. There is minor wear only. There is a pocket on each side. The tunic is a bit small but should fit a mannequin without any issue. The breeches are produced in the same color and type of wool as the tunic. They are near excellent, with ever so slight wear, a few extremely tiny moth nips and discoloration only. There are (functioning) zippered closures at the lower legs. There are hip pockets and a single rear pocket with scalloped flaps. There is a three button fly with a metal hook and loop closure at the waist. There are straps and buttons for suspenders and this is set up for a belt as well. The waist is a size 30 and these are 35” in length. A very nice and scarce set!
