Allgemeine SS SD Officer Service Tunic and Breeches-This is for an officer, leutnant in the Wehrmacht but in this case an Untersturmführer in the Allgemeine SS. The SD is the Sicherheitsdienst, or Security Service (of the Reichsführer SS). This is a privately tailored example in black trikot wool. There is extremely minor wear and discoloration from use only. There are pleated breast pockets with scalloped flaps. The hip pockets are internal and also have scalloped flaps. There is a four buttons closure and all buttons are nickel silver finished pebbled metal. The rear tail belt buttons are pebbled metal with a gold finish (likely replaced at some point). The lay down collar is lined along the outer edge with a silver bullion twist rope piping. Both collar tabs are black badge cloth with a silver bullion twist rope piping. The right side is blank which of course is correct for SD personnel. This appears to be a tailor repurposed rank tab as there are three small holes from where there were once pips on it. The left side rank tab does have three pips for the aforementioned rank of Untersturmführer. The right side has a 1934 pattern shoulder board of silver flat wire with black badge cloth underlay. There is a 1934 pattern black cloth RZM SS tag underneath. There are loops on the left breast pocket for two awards. Just above are loops for a large size ribbon bar. These have been used as you can see in the photos. The red wool armband is hand applied with a single stitch. It is in great condition, with minor wear and discoloration only. It has a black tape stripe at the upper and lower edges. There is a separated applied white ribbed cloth disc with multi piece black tape swastika. There is an officer style cufftitle on the left side cuff. It is black which is correct and has silver flat wire piping on the upper and lower edges. Just above is a very scarce officer style SD diamond of black badge cloth with silver bullion twist rope piping and the lettering rendered in silver bullion. The interior is fully lined in black rayon that is in fine condition. There is a single pocket on the left side. There is a large tailor tag on the pocket that reads Toni Henrichs, Köln. Inside is another tailor tag with the name Herm Henning and the date Januar 1939. See below for more info from our sleuth Tom M! The tunic is a size medium and, lastly, there are metal belt hooks. The breeches are black trikot wool as well, with black tricot breeches, five-button hidden fly, slit waist pockets with buttons, watch pocket, rear pocket with button closure and scalloped flap, adjustable rear waist straps/buckles at each side, ankles with lace eyelet closure. Partially lined in striped rayon and white cotton. Adjustable blue elastic suspenders with buckles, attached by brown leather button straps. The waist is a size 36 and these are 38” in length. A scarcely found example!
