This fantastic example retains approximately 85% smooth blue-grey paint, 1st pattern, (circa 1936-1940), eagle decal rates ca 90%, national shield rates ca. 90%. Across the front of the helmet is the remnants of GI applied souvenir art with “Germany 1945” still visible. All three of the liner retaining rivets are intact, interior complete with M31 leather liner with all eight fingers, soiled white tag with red embroidered soldier’s initials applied to one finger, reverse, interior neck guard apron stamped with batch number "4056", and left side apron is stamped with the manufacturer’s code and size "ET64", indicating manufacture by Eisenhüttenwerk Thale / Harz, size 64. Original chinstrap present broken. A handsome example!
