German WWII Standard Bearers Patch for Pioneer-This was removed from a panzer wrapper. It is a very rare example of a standard patch for an engineer or pioneer regiment. This patch is machine woven (BeVo) in three colors: aluminum thread (flat wire), black thread (engineer branch color), and black thread. all woven onto a thin, dark green rayon backing cloth. The insignia portrays two crossed Standards in miniature, with a cluster of oak leaves in aluminum thread woven at the bottom center. This very colorful and desirable patch would be worn on the right shoulder of the one person in the unit that was designated to carry the regimental standarte (flag). This is in excellent condition!
