German WWII Luftwaffe Survival Machete-These machetes were part of a rescue kit on aircraft such as the Heinkel-111. The ribbed wooden grip plates are excellent and the brass hilt shows slight wear and very light scratching. The steel scabbard retains better than 75% of a light bluing. It does have a few scuffs throughout. This massive bowie type machete measures a full 22 inches (55.88cm) long, with a 16 inch (40.64cm) blade. The blade does show some pitting, especially just under the cross guard. The blade is marked with, what we believe, is the pre-1941 vintage Alcoso trademark scales. This piece is in very good condition, and quite the conversation starter!
