Five Cradles and One More By Henrik Herse and (his children) Annemarie and Elfriede- This small book " Funf Wiegen und Noch Eine" or " Five Cradles and One More " was an piece of publishing work that Henrik Herse wrote for the SS. This was a children’s book designed to be a book to be read by the whole SS family. Between the covers is a series of illustrations of both Nordic and Germanic ritual, designed to familiarize children within the SS Family of their roots and culture. The Allach porcelain factory contacted Henrik’s daughter Elfriede who not only illustrated most of the book, but also became a renowned author later in life. Allach asked her to create clay figurines from the illustrations in this book that could be turned into porcelain figurines. If you google the Herse group of Allach, you can see 6 Allach porcelain figurines that were designed by Elfriede. Only 1000 of these sets were made. They are still relatively unknown and it may be because these are not all marked with the Allach SS runes. During Christmas of 1942, Heinrich Himmler sent these figurine sets to the wives of SS Gruppenführer and SS Oberuppenführers. The book itself has 206 pages. The book’s binding is slightly loose, but overall, this is in good condition. There is a name written on the first page, this is very old. Unfortunately, this book has been denazified. There is brown paper glued over a few of the runic symbols and on some of the SS insignia. There is a very interesting illustration of an SS dagger on page 155. Overall, an extremely rare book in good, but fragile condition.
