Drei Jahre im Sattel (Three Years in the Saddle)-Printed in 1900, in Berlin, this German language book was written by a General Major in the Cavalry. It was written mostly for young men beginning their service in the cavalry. This book is full of information on performance, dress, and caring for horses. There are colored plates with uniforms and insignia, and illustrations within. This softcover book has 457 well aged pages. There are quite a few handwritten notes on inside the front and back covers, we have not attempted to translate these. This book is 124 years old. It is still quite readable, though a bit fragile as you would be at 124. The pages are evenly age toned, but there is no major spotting or damage. The binding is still tight and intact. This comes in a small protective cardboard sleeve that someone has supplied with the book. An interesting study on early cavalry practices.
