WWII German Army Infantry Visor Cap for Other Ranks Personnel-This private purchase example is produced in soft field grey wool. It has minor discoloration and wear from use and age. There is some minor tracking in a few spots as well. The white infantry piping has discoloration but is fully intact. The center band is dark green badge cloth. There are a few moth holes. The insignia is all nickel silver plated tombak with some wear and toning to the finish. The chin strap is black patent leather with some minor crazing to the leather. The black vulkanfibre visor remains very shiny and is finished in an orange brown hue on the underside. The top panel is lined in a copper brown, ribbed rayon. The sides of the cap are unlined. The moisture shield is mostly missing. The top panel is stamped “Stirndruckfrei, Deitsches Reichspatent”. The brown leather sweatband is perforated at the front. It has some discoloration and wear but remains quite soft and supple. It is ink stamped with the size underneath, 57. Very good condition overall!
