German WWII RLB 1st Class Award-Take a look at this rare badge. This was a high decoration presented to members of the Reichsluftschutzbund which is otherwise known as the German Air Defense Service. This is a gilted cross with a swastika in the center. It is suspended by the original RLB ribbon that has a pin setup that functions as intended. It is dated 1938 on the reverse, which is the year this award was instituted. The finish is 85% intact on this example, and it almost appears as if the finish was deliberately removed from the center swastika in order for it to look more pronounced. We have seen several of these 1st class RLB awards that have the finish removed from the swastika. This may have been a common habit. It has an interesting look to it. This is a very hard piece to encounter.
