German WWII 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class-This is an interesting example, since it is made by a less common maker. This medal is also unusual as it has a copper core instead of the usual iron. You can see the copper beneath where some of the finish of the core has been lost. I would estimate that the black finish is 85% in place but there are some spots where the copper backing is showing through. The ring of this cross is marked with “128” for S. Jablonski GmbH which is the uncommon maker. This also comes with a portion of ribbon which is super clean and has vibrant colors.  Overall, this is very good.

History: The German Iron Cross of 1939, awarded during World War II, was a reintroduction of the historic Prussian Iron Cross by Adolf Hitler at the start of the conflict, featuring a swastika in the center and a ribbon incorporating the colors of the TR regime (black, white, and red) instead of the traditional Prussian black and white stripes. This medal was essentially a way to continue the tradition of military valor recognition while aligning it with the new ideology.
