German WWII Youth RAD Female Camp Pennant-This Lagerwimpel des RAD der weiblichen Jugend is excellent! This pennant measures 81 inches long (205.74cm) by 44 inches wide (111.6cm). It is double sided with a printed image of the white disc with a black printed swastika above two stylized stalks of wheat, which was the insignia for the RADwj. The red bunting of this pennant is a vibrant red. The hoist end is reinforced with a rope lanyard that is looped on each end. This flag has some light staining to the white field but it is damage free. It is in very good condition.
History: The RADwJ was the Weiblichen Jugend and was the woman's (female youth) section of the RAD- Reichsarbeitdienst-National Labor Service. Girls entered the RAD from the BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädel) and after completing a six-month period of service they were normally released. Their tasks included being workers as auxiliary agricultural labor force, service and hospitals, and schools to help maintain the public utilities and transportation systems. It was a necessary function to the National Socialist system and a great patriotism and morale builder for the young ladies.
