US “T” M1910 Handled Entrenching Tool -This is a sturdy original US entrenching tool with the iconic “T” shaped handle. This was originally called a shovel but the name was officially designated as a entrenching tool. It measures 22 inches (55.88cm) in length. The wooden handle measures 5 inches (12.7cm) in width. This tool is sturdy enough to be used as a weapon in close combat if you had too. It would not be fun to be hit in the face with this thing! The finish on this tool is nearly 99% intact. This is a repaint, but we are unsure if this was collector done or in the depot. These tools were used well into WWII, by both the army and marines, but mostly by the US marines. This is very nicely marked, on both the wood and on the steel shovel head. The dowel through the handle can still be seen. This is a plus. Overall, a historic tool that is in near excellent condition.
