K98 Dress Bayonet with Stag Grips and Blue and Gold Double Etched Blade by Clemen & Jung, Solingen-A scarce and desirable example. This has a nickel hilt with working mortise button (missing felt in the slot). The stag grip plates are retained with nickel rivets, having dressed heads on both sides. The scabbard shell is straight throughout and retains approximately 75% of its original black paint exhibiting surface age throughout and wear from a once present frog. The plated, blued and gilded blade is a long style having wide fuller. The obverse is etched with a center panel with recipient’s name “Oskar Scholz” flanked by floral designs. The reverse is etched with a center panel with a three-line dedication “Fur Erinnerung an, Familie Weeser Solingen, 4.5.1939” flanked by floral designs. The reverse ricasso is stamped with the Clemen & Jung Solingen trademark in oval. The original fine leather washer is in place. An extremely rare bayonet rarely encountered exhibiting poor storage.
