German WWII SS Himmler Dagger by Eickhorn-Let me start out by saying that this dagger does have some liabilities. I am told that the cross guard of this dagger should not be Gruppe marked, and this handle may have come from a Richard Herder SS dagger. This being said, let me describe this dagger. The early nickel silver fittings are in very nice condition with the lower cross guard shows the roman numeral I. The bottom of the crossguard also has the number 6 deeply etched into the underside which is the number assigned to the craftsman who originally assembled this dagger. The black ebony grip has a significant chip out of the obverse, upper left side next to the runic button. There is also a small chip on the lower right side of the obverse of the handle directly above the cross guard. The reverse of the handle also has a chip, right above the lower cross guard. These are obvious and evident and we wish to carefully point them out to you. A close examination of the pommel cap indicates that this dagger was taken apart at one point by a previous owner, but certainly not me. The anodizing on the scabbard is light but intact. Once again, we encourage you to look at the photos. The Eickhorn blade with the proper early trademark will rate very good, with slight spotting and one very small chip out of the edge of the blade down toward the tip. This blade has been cleaned at some point. There is also some indication of scrapes across the blade which may not show up in the photos. We wanted to point these out to you. The bottom boot on the scabbard also has two indentations which were caused when these daggers were actually being worn. This is a sound example of a very rare dagger.
