German WWII SS Chained Model 1936 Himmler Officer’s Dagger-This is an unusual dagger to find. It is the model 36 chained SS dagger that also has the Himmler dedication on the reverse of the blade. This would occur when the owner was a recipient of the Model 1933 Himmler presentation dagger and elected to update his dagger when the Model 1936 chain dagger became available. Like everyone who wants to have the latest model, he simply purchased the chained version of the scabbard and put his special dagger in the new fancy scabbard. By that time, he was also an officer which enabled him to also display the dagger with the bullion knot. This type II chained scabbard with nickel-plated fittings on the cross guards, scabbard fittings and the handsome chain are virtually 100% intact. The black ebony wood grip with its nickel-plated eagle and enameled runic button are very good, as is the grip and blade fit. The enamel on the runic button is intact and very clear. Both the eagle and the button are excellent fits to the handle. The scabbard is lightly anodized and has a finish that is 95% intact with only a few scuffs which is a testimony to its age. The textbook center ramp fitting, and Type II chain are stunning with excellent details to the skulls and SS runic symbols. The reverse of the chain has the proper SS runic symbol on the correct link. The blade is beautiful with its deeply engraved motto “Meine Ehre heist Treue” (My Honor is Loyalty). The Himmler dedication on the reverse is also very clear. Just above the Himmler dedication is a very early Eickhorn squirrel logo. The blade shows the correct factory cross graining, and the usual in an out marks. Overall, it is excellent. This comes with a correctly tied silver bullion dagger knot. There is a spot of wear where this knot was tied onto a dagger for a long time, you should be able to see this in the photos. Overall, this dagger is a beauty!
