German WWII Slotted Police Bayonet by Weyersberg-Very good example of a scarce slotted example of a police bayonet. This has a very ornate early nickel silver plated hilt and the configuration has beautiful detailing. The release works perfectly. The finish on the hilt and crossguard remains approx. 90%. The crossguard shows the numbers S.G.I 158. The leather buffer is present under the crossguard as well. The stag grip plates are in excellent condition as is the nicely toned aluminum police grip eagle. Be aware that this police eagle is a replacement. The black municipal leather scabbard body looks good. It has moderate scuff and age crazing, but remains nice and dark throughout, with all of the original stitching intact. The four vertical lines running through it, give it that finishing touch of German detail! The nickel-silver based, plated scalloped scabbard fittings have taken on an attractive tone from age. The staples are in place. The reverse of the scabbard throat fitting has the numbers, “S.H. 1254.” The scabbard throat snugly fits the brass-based hilt. The blade measures 13 inches long when not in the scabbard. The blade is in very good condition, though there are some spots of discoloration from water spotting near the tip. The Weyersberg logo is very prominent on the reverse of the blade. The numbers on both the scabbard and the crossguard are excellent but be aware that they do not match. Overall, sound condition.
