German WWII Army Officers Dove Head Sword by Alcoso-This is a great example of a pre-1941 army officers’ sword. It has a nicely detailed early brass “P” guard hilt. The brass finish is intact on this piece, it has great detail and tone. The eagle on the crossguard is in the Wehrmacht style with folded wings. The black celluloid grip with triple brass wire wrap is excellent. There is a partial knot in place, though the ball of the knot has been cut or torn away. The knot material is gray and silver leather with some still in place. The original black enamel paint on the scabbard is a solid 95% with only a few bumps and bruises from use. The blade is a full excellent with a handsome Alcoso scale logo. This example measures approximately 38 inches (96.52cm) in length, with the blade itself measuring 32 inches (81.28cm). A very desirable example!
