German WWII 98K Matched Bayonet-This is a model by the manufacturer Coppel who later became Alcoso. This is a totally matched example which is dated 1942. Both the blade and the scabbard have matching numbers of 3906/g. The hilt has lost all of its original finish and has turned the smooth rust color which actually looks great with the wooden grip. There is a chip out of the wooden grip plate, so please be sure to look closely at the photos. The rivets in the handle have toned to the same color as the hilt and crossguard giving this a great look. The mortise button works as intended. The scabbard finish is missing and has toned to the same rust color as the dagger fittings. There are waffenamts all over the place on this dagger. The blade looks good, with approx. 60% of its original bluing in place. The blade does show some slight sharpening, but this is a good blade. It is marked under the cross guard with the date of 42 and the code “fnj” for the maker Coppel. The other side of the blade shows the number 3906/g which matches the scabbard. This is complete with its original black leather frog which is in good condition. Overall, very good example.
