German Imperial Fireman’s Axe with Leather Cover-This fireman’s axe could have easily been used during the Third Reich as well, since these were an important tool for the fire/police. This is a scarce model as the steel axe head is shaped very similar to an ice axe, but these models were in use, and we are certain that an axe like this would have been used and repurposed during the Third Reich. The long black wooden handle measures 13 ½ inches in length. The axe head is 7 inches long. The tip of this black wooden handle has a toned aluminum “cap”. The black painted finish on this handle is 85% intact. This axe comes with a damaged leather axe cover. It covers the axe head, but the leather has separated and is fairly stiff and fragile. Please be aware of this. There is a snap clip on the reverse of the cover. It does look great though. In fact, the complete axe itself is in very good condition, and would make a nice display piece.
