Early Japanese WWII Arisaka Type 30 Bayonet-This example was made by Matsushita Kinzoku KK (Matsushita Metalworking Corp.), under Kokura Army Arsenal supervision. Matsushita Kinzoku was a subsidiary of Matshusita National Denki (Matsushita National Electric Co.). Matsushita made bayonets from 1938–1945. This example is from the 84th Series, the first series of bayonets produced by Matsushita. The pommel and crossguard are made of steel. It has a straight crosspiece. It features a straight crosspiece. Both have lost all of their original finish. There are wooden grips that are fastened with rivets. The wooden grip plates are worn smooth with no chips. They are a beautiful brown color. The scabbard is also made of steel. It retains approx. 75% of its original black finish. It does have some scuffs and a moderate dent about halfway down. The blued blade is in very good condition. The ricasso is marked with the three-sided cloverleaf mark for the Kokura Army Arsenal. The mark depicts a stack of four cannonballs viewed from above. The capital letter "M" with an arrow through it identifies Matsushita as the contractor. Matsushita was founded at Osaka in 1918 to make consumer household electric appliances. The company survived multiple B-29 raids on Osaka during 1945 and subsequently evolved into the present-day Panasonic Corporation. This comes with a rare heavy duty canvas frog that has faded to a very light brown color.
