British Enfield Bayonet Dated 1907-This is an oldie but goodie! The Pattern 1907 bayonet, officially called the Sword bayonet, (pattern 1907 -Mark I), was made to be used with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle. This bayonet was used by the British and Commonwealth forces throughout both the First and Second World Wars. This has a steel pommel and crossguard that has lost all of its original finish. The steel has darkened to an iron color. The crossguard is designed with a loop on one side. The grips are made of walnut wood and are secured by two heavy duty long screws. The mortise button is a bit stiff but works. The green leather scabbard looks good. The leather is somewhat lifted from age, but it is still 75% green with leather that remains mostly in place. There is lifting but no major damage. The top and bottom fittings are black painted steel. They retain quite a bit of their original finish. I would say approx. 70% remains. There is a leather frog that has a clip to secure the bayonet in place. The blade is in very good condition, and is well marked for Wilkinson Sword, and dated 1907. There are many proofs marked on the ricasso as well. This is a cool blade.
