American Officer's Sword with Eagle Head Handle-We believe this sword would have been used post American Revolution, during the years of 1810 through to 1840, or just before the US Civil War began. This sword is gorgeous and could have easily been in use during the war of 1812. For those of you who need a quick history lesson like I did, in 1812, The Americans invaded Canada. This pissed off the British who retaliated and burned our White House.  A peace treaty was signed in 1814, and then the British lost the Battle of New Orleans because no one realized the War was over. Remember this was pre internet. 😉

This beautiful sword has a highly detailed eagle pommel, “P” Guard, and crossguard. On the brass languet you can see an American eagle on one side, and large fan or palm leaf design on the other. There is a beautiful bone grip that is carved in three segments. This handle is slightly cracked and there are a few chips missing. Since this is bone, we may have to do local pick up only. Please contact us. This handle is loose fit, we have not attempted to tighten this. The brass scabbard has a few dents, and is slightly bent, but overall is in good condition. This has a period tricolor blade with fire bluing, gold inlay and silvered etched panels. It has darkened from age and the tri color with gilt is difficult to see. This style of blade was not domestically made, this is a design that was made in Solingen Germany only. This sword measures 38 inches (96.52cm) long. A very historic blade in good shape.  US Sales only or local pickup only.
