WWII US M1 Helmet for 2nd Infantry Division-This was once in the collection of noted expert Steve Klima of M1 Helmet Depot. It is a front seam, fixed bale example with Olive drab chinstraps that have quite a bit of wear to go along with brass hardware. The shell has a few dings and dents, please see pics. There are stress cracks starting in the back but since this won’t be used (most likely!) I wouldn’t be overly concerned. Of course, the money shot is the fantastic, hand painted 2nd ID insignia at the front. This appears to be a second application, as I think I can see a ghost of another Indian underneath. Some of the paint is flaking off inside the shell. The liner is a Westinghouse example. The finish to the exterior is mostly missing and there are a few tiny cracks. The OD 3 suspension is in fine condition, with heavy wear, staining and missing material on the sweatband. There is a brown leather chinstrap as well. Scarce and desirable!
