WWII US M-1 Helmet w/Cool GI Personalization-This McCord shell has a heat stamp number of 56A. There are numerous personalizations, the neatest of which is the initials “L.G.” on the lower right side of the exterior. Inside the shell is “D648943” written in pencil and “SB182718 Grenon Tea.” In ink. I haven’t been able to connect any of this together so it would be fun to find out more about this lid. It is obviously early, based on the low number and the color/construction of the chinstrap. It has brass fittings and is an off white/tan hue. It is of course front seam and fixed bale. The exterior finish is more of a pale green, remaining mostly intact. The Firestone produced liner is in fine condition overall. The finish is mostly intact. The OD 3 HBT suspension is very clean, with minor wear and a stain on the leather sweatband. The headband is maker stamped and the A washers are green. The leather chinstrap is missing. Excellent overall!
