WWII German Schutzpolizei Officer Four Pocket Service Tunic-This tunic is produced in green wool. It has a light chocolate brown badge cloth collar with the front and lower edges piped in green cord, as are both right and left edges of the vertical front closure and the edges of the tail vent. The tunic has the usual four pockets with scalloped flaps – the two breast pockets being pleated. The front closure has eight silver finished, pebbled aluminum buttons. There are loops above the left breast pocket for a long length ribbon bar. On the pocket there are loops for a single award. The turn back cuffs are finished in chocolate brown badge cloth just like the collar. The sew-in shoulder boards are a shiny silver metal braid over green badge cloth for the field grade officer rank of “Major”. There is a button under the right board for an aiguillette. The Army style collar tabs are produced in a silver aluminum flat wire over a green badge cloth. These have been machine applied to the collar. On the left sleeve there is a hand applied Officer’s sleeve eagle in silver bullion with shiny silver highlights, embroidered on a Police green wool/felt backing. This has some wear. Also seen is a set of silver SS runes (over green wool) hand applied below the pocket. This indicates that the wearer was once a member of the SS. The interior is fully lined in green rayon. There is minor wear and discoloration, and a separated seam. There is a single pocket on the left side. Inside is a tag but it is completely washed out. There is a slot for an edged weapon but no strap. There is discoloration, fading, wear, a white (possibly paint) stain and many minor moth holes, mostly seen on the reverse (but also elsewhere). There is a cummerbund type waist belt. It is a medium size. Sound condition overall!
