WWII German Model 1942 Normandy Camo Helmet with Incredible Etching- This amazing souvenir has a chunky, sprayed on tri-color finish that remains 70% intact. You can see an Army decal under the camouflage finish. Etched into the paint on the front of the helmet is the script "St. Pierre le Moutier" followed by the date 11-9-44, followed by "8000 Prisoners". Wow! The liner looks to have been treated at some point, so although it remains soft and supple, it is very dark. It is a size 55 and has a drawstring. Also, there is a zinc liner band which is maker marked, dated 1942, and size stamped. The side of the interior is stamped ET62 indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale, in the size of 62. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 1344. There is a brown leather chinstrap with steel hardware and an RBNr. A fantastic, one of a kind souvenir helmet.
