WWII German Model 1940 Waffen SS Single Decal Helmet, Named-This was recently acquired from the family of the veteran who asked that their identity remain anonymous. It features a smooth, dark green finish that remains 80% intact. The ET SS decal on the right side is textbook and checks in at the same 80% intact. When we purchased this helmet, the three rivets that hold the liner in place were missing. The liner and band were with it, but for some reason that no one could explain the rivets were gone. We replaced them with a set from another M-40 helmet and they are perfect. The liner is a size 56 and in extremely fine condition, remaining soft with just slight wear and discoloration. The band is maker marked, dated 1940 and size stamped 64/56. The side of the interior is stamped ET 64 indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerk of Thale in the size of 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 937 indicating production in 1941. There is a name rendered in white paint, “Schönauer”. There is a brown leather chinstrap which is excellent. It is dated 1941 and maker marked. A very good example that is priced to sell!
