WWII German Luftwaffe Officer Private Purchase Visor Cap-This is a late war private purchase example. The cap is produced in blue grey wool that is excellent. It is ever so slightly out of shape, coming back into shape when on a head or a hat form. It is super clean with no moth holes. The silver mesh piping is nearly fully intact, with two small spots of wear. The silver bullion eagle is hand applied. It is fantastic to look at with its shiny silver highlights. The same goes for the hand applied winged wreath, which is excellent. There is a zinc cockade with red felt bullseye. The ribbed black center band is excellent. The officer double chin cord is produced in off white celleon. It is held in place by a pair of silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The vulkanfibre visor is a thin, late war type with a green underside. The interior is fully lined in blue rayon that is excellent. There is a rhomboid shaped moisture shield with maker and other information printed underneath. This includes the "Verkaufsabteilung der Luftwaffe" script which is the Luftwaffe Sales Department. The manufacturer was Carl Halfar as it is marked "Ce-Ha Prima". This was how they marked many Luftwaffe caps. The sweatband is produced in white leather and it is excellent. It is soft and supple and very clean. The original paper size tag is still stitched to the sweatband and it indicates that this is a size 57 1/2. Excellent!
