WWII German Infantry Officer Visor Cap, Private Purchase by eReL-This handsome, quality private purchase cap is produced in trikot weave wool. It is field grey and has just minor wear and discoloration from use. There is one small hole on the wearers left side panel. The owner removed the stiffening rings giving this the look and feel of a crusher. The white infantry piping has minor discoloration throughout. There are one or two tiny nips to the piping in indiscreet spots. The dark green badge cloth center band has minor tracking in a few spots and remains very clean. The insignia is all metal and retains a majority of the finish to the eagle with most of the finish missing on the wreath and cockade (vented, pressure free type). The officer double chin cord is silver bullion with pebbled silver buttons. The visor is black vulkanfibre with minor fading only. The underside is finished in an orange brown hue and crosshatched. The interior is fully lined in green rayon. There is minor discoloration to the top panel with some wear as well. The moisture shield is rhomboid shaped and has the nomenclature of the maker, eReL including the model, "EXTRA". The brown leather sweatband has minor wear and discoloration from use. It has the "eReL Patent Stirnschutz" logo making this a "double eReL". It is a size 55. There is a vintage newspaper rolled up under the sweatband. A very good example!
