WWII German Fire Police NCO Tunic-This is for a fireman stationed at a factory. His duties would include but not be limited to security of the premises and, when called upon, to handle emergencies including fires. It is produced in purple/blue wool that is very clean. There is some wear and many holes, mostly small, with missing material. The tunic has the usual four pockets with scalloped flaps – the two breast pockets being pleated. The front closure has eight silver-finished, pebbled metal buttons. On the pocket, there are loops for a single award. The front and lower edge of the collar are piped in purple cloth, as are the left closure seam and the tops of the French cuffs. The collar tabs are hand applied. They have a purple cloth backing with silver tresse columns and silver bullion twist rope piping. The sew in shoulder boards are for a senior NCO, the exact rank being "meister" equivalent to a sergeant. The face of the boards is bright silver flat wire with brown cloth braid. The underlay is purple badge cloth. The hand applied sleeve eagle is machine embroidered in purple over black badge cloth. The interior is fully lined in black rayon that is very clean. There is a single pocket on the left side. The tunic is a size medium. Good condition overall!
