WWII German Diplomatic Official Visor Cap-This handsome visor cap is missing from many collections. It is produced in dark blue wool in a trikot weave. The cap is very clean and the wool is of a very high quality. There are many small holes throughout, but mostly found at the rear of the top panel (see pics). The bright silver mesh piping around the top panel and on the upper and lower edges of the black ribbed cloth center band (few small holes) is nearly fully intact. There is one small section missing from the lower right, just behind the button for the chin cord. The impressive insignia is a produced in a combination of silver bullion and bright silver flat wire. There are sections of the eagle and the wreath that are missing the bullion along with some repairs (again, see pics). The silver bullion has toned a bit and has a nice look. As mentioned, there are two silver finished pebbled metal buttons and a silver bullion officer type double chin cord. The visor is black vulkanfibre. There is some minor fading and crazing. The underside is crosshatched and in an orange brown hue. The interior is fully lined in black rayon. There is a rhomboid shaped moisture shield which is mostly intact. The maker nomenclature is present and reads "Witto-Mütze Wien" and "Sonderklasse". There is an ersatz leather sweatband of tan. It is partially intact with the front section missing. It is a size 56. A handsome cap that is extremely reasonably priced!
