WWII German Customs Official Visor Cap, Private Purchase-This cap is produced in field grey wool in a trikot weave. There is very minor wear and discoloration from use. The stiffening rings were removed from the cap by the owner to give it a unique look. The green piping is in fine condition as is the dark green badge cloth center band (few tiny nips). The unique customs insignia is in fine condition too. It features an aluminum eagle and a nickel-plated wreath and cockade with red felt bullseye. The wide version of the officer bullion chin cord is in place and in great condition. There are two small, silver finished pebbled metal buttons that hold it in place. The black vulkanfibre visor is a little faded but otherwise fine. The underside is finished in a dark green hue with cross hatching. The interior is fully lined in green ribbed rayon. There is some staining/discoloration from use. The diamond shaped moisture shield is mostly intact. The maker is "Alkero" and the "Stirndruckfrei". The sweatband is dark green leather and in great condition, remaining soft and supple. The cap is a size 57. Great condition!
