WWII German Customs Official Tunic-This is a four pocket tunic for a member of the “Zollgrenzschutz und Zollbehörde”, or German Customs Service. The rank is equivalent to a major in the armed forces (this is a zollfinanzrat). The tunic is produced in woven field grey wool that is clean. There are many, many tiny holes all over (see pics). There are pleated breast pockets and internal hip pockets. The flaps are scalloped. There is a six button closure and all buttons are silver finished pebbled metal. There are French cuffs. The collar is dark green badge cloth and has a liner. The closure seam and cuffs are piped in dark green. The collar tabs are produced in dark green badge cloth with bright silver flat wire wreath, two pips and sawtooth border trim. They are machine applied. There are slip on shoulder straps which are also dark green badge cloth with bright silver flat wire braid. The braid has green cloth woven into it. The cipher is gilt and reads RSV. There are loops for a large ribbon bar (look collector done). The cuff title is green woven rayon with silver flat wire eagle and trim. There is evidence of there being an army breast eagle above the right pocket. The interior is fully lined in green rayon. There is minor wear, a few stains and some discoloration. There is a pocket on the left side. There are two loops inside for a hanger. These have the tailors name and location. It matched the one that is stamped onto the collar liner. It is a size medium. Overall good condition!
