WWII German Army Sonderführer Officer Visor Cap-This was for an army sonderführer which was a specialist role used for many purposes including propaganda work, medical service, veterinary service etc. These assignments were filled from NCO through senior officer ranks. Sonderführer were used not only in Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS, but also in other Nazi-organisation, e.g. in the Organisation Todt, Reichsarbeitsdienst, etc. This one of course is for an army officer. The body is produced in trikot weave wool. It is field grey in color. There is extremely minor wear and tracking only. The owner removed the stiffening rings so this has the look and feel of a crusher type cap. The special grey piping and center band are in fine condition. The zinc insignia has lost all of the finish but is otherwise in fine condition. The chin cord is the thicker officer type in silver bullion. There are small silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The visor is black vulkanfibre. There is very minor wear and fading only. It remains tightly affixed to the cap. The underside is green and there is a name hand written in pencil. It reads “Sdf. Wilh Udhe”. “Sdf” is the abbreviation for Sonderführer. The interior is fully lined in greenish grey rayon. This is in fine condition with minor wear and discoloration only. There is a rhomboid shaped moisture shield which is fully intact. The owner nomenclature for August Schellenburg is seen in bold red color. The sweatband is grey leather. It has some wear and a few tears and is a bit stiff as well. The cap is a size 55. Scarcely found and in fine condition overall!
