WWII German Army Officer Private Purchase Cavalry Visor Cap w/17th Brunswick Hussar Traditions Badge-This is produced in very soft field grey wool. There is some very minor discoloration and wear from use. The owner removed the stiffening rings from the cap so it is very flexible like a crusher. It is ever so slightly out of shape due to this as well. The distinctive yellow cavalry piping is excellent. The dark green badge cloth center band is excellent as well. This has the unique 17th Brunswick Hussar Traditions Badge between the aluminum army eagle and the bullion wreath. The cockade is darkly toned with a red felt bullseye. The black vulkanfibre visor is nice and shiny. There is extremely minor crazing only. The officer double chin cord is silver bullion and held in place by a pair of silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The underside of the visor is crosshatched and finished in a green grey hue. There is wear in all the right places. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. It has some minor wear and discoloration from use. The moisture shield is missing. It was diamond shaped and it is clearly visible where it once resided. There was some info is stamped onto the lining. It was silk screened in silver but this is mostly missing. You can still see the motto and read the script. It reads "Deutsches Offizier Verein, Armee Marine Haus". There is an anchor inside the motto. The sweatband is greey grey leather. It is very soft and fully intact. There is some wear and discoloration from use. It looks like it was restitched in a few spots at the front. It is a size 56. A handsome and very desirable cap!
