WWII German Army Administration Sonderführer Visor Cap-This is a very scarce cap with a specially added center band of soft grey velvety cloth to denote that the wearer was a Sonderführer, and in this case, an officer. Sonderführer was a specialist role, not a rank. This is a beautiful piece, privately purchased and produced in very good quality field grey wool that is near excellent. There is some minor discoloration, wear and tracking to the top panel. The dark green piping, seen around the top panel and at the upper and lower edges of the center band, is in fine condition. The insignia is all bullion and a sight to behold. The eagle and wreath each have bright silver highlights and are over green wool. The officer double chin cord (narrow type) is silver bullion and held in place by a pair of silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The black vulkanfibre visor has some minor crazing and fading. The visor is ever so slightly loose on one corner. It has been re-stitched in a few spots (some black cloth thread is seen). The underside of the visor is crosshatched and finished in a green/grey hue. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. There is some minor wear and discoloration from use. There is a diamond shaped moisture shield that is fully intact. The maker nomenclature is present. It was produced by Carl Bülow & Sohn, Greifenhagen-Podejuch. It also says "Sonderklasse". This is the town of Gryfino, which is in Pomerania, northwest Poland. Podejuch was a suburb of Stettin-Podejuch when Germany occupied the area. It is now known as Podjuchy and is a meighborhood in the city of Szczecin, Poland. The sweat band is black leather at the front, black cloth at the rear. The cap is a size 55. Scarce and desirable!
