WWI German Gravedigger's "Hate" Belt- Personnel who were assigned to the duty of burying the fallen would often take a token "payment" from the uniform of the deceased soldier. Because no-one liked this duty, it's also referred to as a "hate" belt. The belt is produced in brown leather with a military type catch. The "buckle" is a cloth cockade of red and gold with a tan canvas strap and brass naval button. The buttons are German, US, Belgian and French and include a German cockade as well. There is a total of 22. The belt is cut down from its original length and there are a few buttons missing. Scarce, unique and desirable!
