US Vietnam era Bronze Star Grouping for Air Force Pilot-This includes the Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Star to Captain (later Colonel) Gerald A. Blake. It also includes the original award certificate for the Bronze Star, dated 3 November 1966 and given for Meritorious Service 25 November 1965 to 10 October 1966. The Bronze Star is named on the reverse to “G.A. Blake”. He was a Canberra jet pilot and a member of the 13th Tactical Bomber Squadron while in Vietnam. A newspaper article, dated 22 August 1966, states that Captain Blake “led a flight of two Air Force B57 Canberra light bombers that destroyed 26 storage buildings in a fortified communist camp 12 miles south of Quang Ngai”. Another newspaper article dated 31 July 1985 states that “Col. Blake has assumed command of the Aeronautical Systems Division’s 4950th test Wing at Wright Patterson Air Force Base”. He was also a test pilot in the 1980’s for the F-15. A nice studio black and white portrait is included of him as a Colonel. A great grouping!
