Super Desirable German Model 1942 SS Double “Reverse” Decal Helmet-This was reissued from a double decal police helmet and was generally worn by non ethnic German troops serving in the “foreign” SS units. Photographic evidence of these helmets in use shows that most of these units were made up from Ukrainian and Balkan volunteers. It has a dark green combat finish that is nearly fully intact, checking in at 95%. The right side of the helmet has a party shield that remains 75% intact, while the left side has a C.A. Pocher produced SS decal laid over a police decal. The SS decal remains at least 70% intact. The interior features a size 57, brown leather helmet, which has minor discoloration and wear from use. There is minor scuffing about the lower edge. The drawstring is present. There is a non-reinforced zinc liner band. The side of the interior is stamped EF 64 indicating this was produced by Emaillierwerke AG of Fulda in the size of 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the steel lot number 3571 (first number hard to read as is common with this factory). Just above the steel lot number is a piece of old tape with writing on it that is illegible. This most like had a name or other information regarding the owner. There is an excellent, brown leather chinstrap. Just purchased from a very advanced collection. This exact helmet is featured on page 180 of the book Germany’s Combat Helmets 1933-1945 A Modern Study authored by Ken Niewiarowicz. Near excellent, very rare to find and mega desirable!
