The Third pattern patch for Troops in the Turkistan Legion (part of the German Army’s 162nd Infantry Division, which saw extensive action in Yugoslavia and Italy) was first issued in mid-1944. It was a printed patch, and never officially issued in any other form. It was usually printed on a white of fine white cotton, with the oval shield a dark green color, the mosque actually formed by the white background cloth with light blue shadows printed on and a golden yellow outline around the mosque and its three crescent moons. The inscription arching over the top was also changed to read: “TanRi BiZ Meneni” (Turkomanian – not Turkish - for “We Believe in God”). This patch has some very minor discoloration but is otherwise excellent!
