Luftwaffe Signals Enlisted Man Grouping Including Visor Cap and Four Pocket Tunic-This handsome grouping was recently purchased by us from one of our sources in Germany. The private purchase tunic is of a very good quality. It is produced in soft, blue gray wool that is in near excellent condition with just minor discoloration from use. There are also a few small areas of wear, a few minor moth bites and some larger holes underneath the right arm pit (not visible unless arm is lifted). There is a four button closure, all buttons are silver finished pebbled metal. There are four pleated pockets with straight flaps. There is a lay down collar and French cuffs. The collar is lined at the front and lower edges in brown cloth twisr cord. There are hand applied, brown badge cloth tabs with three silver finished gulls on each (applied through the collar). The sew in shoulder boards are produced in blue gray wool with brown cloth piping. This, along with the two v's in the chevron, indicate that this was for an obergefreiter, equivalent to a corporal. The breast eagle is a real stand out! It is hand applied above (and slightly onto) the right side breast pocket flap. It is machine woven in off white over blue gray and is an earlier "droop tail" type. Very handsome! The aforementioned chevron is hand applied to the left sleeve. The interior is fully lined in blue rayon which shows minor discoloration and wear from use. There is a single pocket on the left side and a large tailor tag at the neck. It indicates this was produced by the firm of Carl Heckt which was located in Königsberg. The tunic is a size medium. Also included in the grouping is a private purchase visor cap. It is produced in blue gray trikot wool weave which has minor discoloration only. The owner removed the stiffening wires so it has the look and feel of a crusher. The peak is very high and prominent. The brown piping is excellent. There is metal insignia, the eagle being zinc and the one piece winged wreath and cockade being aluminum. The black ribbed center band is excellent. There is a black leather chinstrap that is also excellent. The vulkanfibre visor check out just fine. The underside is the textbook green hue with crosshatching. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon which has minor discoloration from use. The diamond shaped moisture shield is mostly intact and has the maker’s info. The tan leather sweatband has minor discoloration and wear from use but is otherwise just fine. It is a size 56. A great grouping that is priced to sell!
